Marco Luccio is well known for his brilliant drypoint etchings – enormous, bold works, often of iconic cityscapes and buildings. His current show, however, is his inaugural painting exhibition.
Called ‘The Island’, it is inspired by the rugged coastline of Phillip Island, just off the coast of Victoria. Marco worked on site over a period of 12 months and has captured the the essence of the landscape – the huge, yet beautiful, carved cliff edges and the crashing waves.
Yesterday I was lucky enough, courtesy of a Gordon Visual Arts excursion, to attend an artist talk by Marco. He’s knowledgeable, entertaining and happy to share everything he knows about art.
