Went to the opening of the Mario Luccio exhibition at Metropolis Gallery tonight and was most impressed by his latest work, titled ‘New York Found’.
He spends a lot of time in New York and his previous work has been extensively based on New York’s iconic buildings and cityscapes.
He does mainly etchings and drypoints but for this exhibition has introduced a bit more colour and paint. Really interesting stuff. We met him – both he and his wife are artists and both have had solo exhibitions in New York. How good is that!
He was more than happy to spend time explaining his work and influences, and as a bonus, he’s just a really nice guy.
