[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Do you have that artist friend or relative that impossibly hard to buy any gift or present for? It seems like they have or have made anything you could possible buy as a gift for them?
Well look no further as I am also an artist and here are the perfect 10 gifts for an artist! Take my word for it!
- I love anything that comes in a beautiful wood box. These Sennelier artists’ oil paints are dense, buttery and highly pigmented. Making them an absolute pleasure to work with.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]

- Sculpey oven bake clay is a pretty amazing product. Have a bit of fun with these, great for making jewellery.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]
[dt_gap height=”20″ /] - Art Spectrum have just brought out this studio easel which can also be adjusted to go flat which makes it very functional.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]
[dt_gap height=”20″ /] - Art Magazine subscriptions are a great idea. Here’s one that I particularly like and get on a regualr basis. Great for inspiration and keeping up with the latest art news!. [dt_gap height=”20″ /]
[dt_gap height=”20″ /] - A Tube Squeezer. This will save your fingers a lot of work. Not to mention that you save money by getting every last bit out of your paint tubes.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]
[dt_gap height=”20″ /] - Schmincke Pastels. 60 beautiful colours in a wooden case – for that very special person as these are well over A$300.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]
[dt_gap height=”20″ /] - A brush holder. This is a very simple idea but great for keeping track of all your brushes. These come in a huge range of shapes and sizes but all do the same thing![dt_gap height=”20″ /]
[dt_gap height=”20″ /] - Redline brushes, handcrafted from beechwood are excellent brushes, especially the one without the handle which I find gives you great control of brushstrokes.[dt_gap height=”20″ /]
[dt_gap height=”20″ /] - Colouring books. Sometimes it’s just nice to colour in and bring back the days of growing up! This can be a cheap gift that means a lot and suitable for any age bracket. [dt_gap height=”20″ /]
[dt_gap height=”20″ /] - Watercolour sets. Made by Sennelier, these come in lots of sizes and apparently contain honey which acts as a preservative and an additive that achieves brilliance and smoothness. Who would have guessed![dt_gap height=”20″ /]

So there you have it, a list of supplies, gadgets and gifts that will keep any artist happy. Make sure to keep a list of these artist gifts so you can be prepared for the next birthday, Christmas or special occasion.
Sorry for the terrible quality photos but I thought it was a little more genuine than pulling images from the Internet!
Any great gifts for an artist that I missed? Please share in the comments!

Hi Sarah, I was wondering if you teach classes at all and if so where and when. I love your work and I am looking forward to seeing your exhibition at Mingara Gallery over Easter. If you do not teach classes and you can advise of any places or courses where I can get started I would appreciate any assistance you maybe able to provide. I live near Cheltenham and I am finally beginning to retire from full time work and I would love to explore oil painting further. Kindest regards, Sandy
Hi Sandy, thanks for your email. I don’t do any teaching at the moment, maybe one day when I have a bit more time. I’m not sure what there is around Cheltenham as I’m not from that area but the Peninsular Arts Society is very active and they may be able to advise you. They are located in Frankston. Also your local art supply shop may know of something. Sorry I can’t be more helpful. It’s great that you are now going to have the time to do some painting.
If you are down at Phillip Island over Easter, and would like to call in at Mingara Gallery on Easter Saturday afternoon and have a glass of wine with us, it’s the official opening of the exhibition between 2 and 5pm. It would be lovely to meet you.
Best wishes,
Sara
